Thanks for visiting the River Cities Humane Society for Cats website. All of our cats are spayed or neutered before adoption, litter box trained, socialized, tested for Feline Aids/Leukemia and up to date on routine vaccinations. River Cities cats are "indoor" only cats. We have made this a policy because we feel strongly that indoor cats live longer and more healthy lives than outdoor cats
Please remember that requests to surrender cats must be called in to the Shelter at 318-343-3031. They cannot be handled through e-mail.
If you think June is a boring month, then you are not hanging out with the folks at River Cities Cats. Check out these events and then mark your calendar.
Saturday, June 1st: Sidewalk Book Sale at the Shelter from 11:00 am - 4:00 pm. We’ve had lots of books donated so jumpstart your summer reading. The beach, the mountains, the city, or your own backyard, you need books to read, lots of books. Cookbooks, biographies, mysteries, westerns, religious, children’s, you name it, we’ve got it at only $1.00 per hardback and $.25 per paperback. The shelter is located at 5302 DeSiard St. in Monroe, east of ULM and across from the Library Lounge and The Waterfront Grill.
Saturday, June 15th: Dog Day in the Biedenharn Gardens from noon until 5:00 pm. This is a fundraiser to help PAWS of NELA, but we will have a booth to sell our cookbooks, T-shirts and famous Pawpaintings. The cost to enter the gardens is $5.00 per person and $5.00 per dog. Anything that helps PAWS helps River Cities by providing low cost spay/neuter procedures to our community.
Saturday, June 29th: Booth at the Downtown River Market from 10:00-4:00. The Market is located on the Riverwalk on the west side of South Grand across from the Ouachita Parish Courthouse.

Barn Cats available at River Cities Humane Society for Cats
Most cats can slip easily into the roll of being an inside house pet, but sometimes River Cities Humane Society for Cats will have a cat that can not adapt to inside life, usually because the animal was an outside cat before they were surrendered. We call these special felines our “Barn Cats”. These cats are spayed or neutered, checked for feline aids and leukemia, had their age appropriate vaccinations and are looking for outside homes. These outside homes could be a farm, a horse stable, a warehouse, a barn or out building, or other suitable outdoor location.
